Why the environment is important to me:
Being a gymnasts doesn't require an extremely healthy environment because we are an indoor sport. However, the training (outside of the gym) requires some running and when the air quality outside is poor it throws our entire workout out the door. I just returned from Beijing and it was amazing to see the effect of the pollution and smog on the athletes. It requires so much extra energy to be able to do the same competition as it would here.
Why I'm a Clean Air Champion:
CAC is a great way to promote healthy air, and having champions as ambassadors really helps people look after the air and pollution. Being an athlete means being a role model and what better way to be a role model than to model the importance of air quality. Our chooses today will impact the future of our Earth in later generations
